I'm Matt Burdett. I work in Hong Kong as a teacher of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme Individuals and Societies (commonly known as Humanities) and Diploma Programme Geography. I've worked in England and Italy for over 15 years as a Geography teacher, including 9 years as a Head of Geography in two schools.
Geography and the Humanities have a fundamental place in any debate about our society. Food prices, oil wealth, access to education and urban planning are all changing in our world at a faster pace than ever before. The results of these shifts will affect everyone on the planet as we are increasingly globalised. How governments deal with these issues will depend on their history, culture, religion, philosophy, maturity and ambition. A study of Humanities and Geography has never been more important.
